A term describing manufacturing facilities that can run with the lights off since no humans are present on the factory floor. The term "automatic factory" may also be used, and a Lights Out facility may also not require other systems needed for humans such as ventilation or HVAC. Not having humans on site has the potential for significant, costly downtime in the case of machine failure.
