The Internet of Things has its own celebratory day each year on the 9th of April. The event was started in 2011 by the IoT Council and Postscapes. By 2015, local events were held in 18 countries worldwide.
Conceptually, IoT Day is an open invitation for worldwide members of the IoT Community to attend a conference, join a Meetup, host a hackathon, or just get together with fellow enthusiasts to discuss the growing impact and implications of IoT's revolutionary technologies.
Online, IoT users and enthusiasts can participate in the conversation about IoT Day with the Twitter hashtag #IoTDay. The official Twitter handle for the event is @IoT_Day, and the event's official webpage, which maintains a list of related events, is iotday.org.
