Glossary Term:
Electrodermal Response

A change in the electrical properties of the skin based on "arousal" factors such as an emotional response. Skin conductance changes with sweat and the change can be measured, particularly in the palms and soles. Although sensitive to emotions, the change in Electrodermal Activity (EDA) cannot be used to determine the exact type of emotion. The formula for skin resistance (R) is R=V/I where V is voltage and I is the current passed through the skin. Many sources still use the older term, Galvanic Skin Response (GSR).
